Dear Peanut,

So today we finally announced the existence of this blog on Facebook. Here's the teaser we posted and the logo I created:

I have a lot of amazing mommy blogger friends and I've worked with some way back in the past. I've always admired how they're able to share their thoughts about baby products I have no idea existed.
Years ago, I told myself that if I'll ever do a "Mommy Blog," I'll do it a little differently. I still want to sound like me. And now, it's here.
Jet and I have been working on "Dear Peanut" since March this year. It's not your typical Mommy/Daddy blog where you can read about reviews and tips on how to become a parent. God knows we don't know yet, hahaha.
It's actually a life-long online letter we started for our little bun in the oven. The blog is rated-18 because it's filled with profanity, booze tales, shisha-ing, sex, and god-knows-what-else we'll write about soon.
We're excited to share the logo with you. We already shared some of the contents to immediate family and friends as beta readers. We'll launch the blog in 3 months! <3

Excited to share it with our family and friends! :)

xoxo,

Update (as of March 29, 2018): Changed my codename from Queen Bitch (QB) to Tiger Mom (TM).

Dear Peanut,

Today, we finally made our official announcement on Facebook that we're expecting you---just as we initially agreed. Here's exactly what we posted:

After more than 6 months, we are finally ready to make our official announcement. :)
We are expecting a baby boy, nicknamed #Peanut for now, because he looks like one in his ultrasound scans. He's also the reason why we moved back to Manila for a few years. We've decided that it will be best for him to be born where he will be surrounded by family and friends. Living abroad has its amazing perks, but the #1 support (our family) we need cannot be found there.
To our immediate family and friends, to whom we shared our big secret months ago, thank you for keeping our secret with us and not posting anything on social media until we are ready. We appreciate all the messages and tips you share with us, special thanks to Mommy friends Karen Fonacier, Ate Anne Espinola, and Rovie Divinagracia Peralta for answering most of my #praning questions, hahaha.
To everyone, I hope you understand why we chose to wait until the start of the 7th month to make our official announcement on Facebook. Social media can be very noisy and we first wanted to bask in the privacy of this very special event in our lives.
Jester Derla and I have been working on a "secret blog project" that we plan to turn into a book since we first found out about our developing baby. We'll share the link soon!
#Peanut is the best post-New Year, pre-Valentine's, post-birthdays, and advanced Christmas gift we can't wait to have in our lives!
*Photo taken when we were 4 months pregnant, after we found out we're having a baby boy. :D

So yeah, you're now part of your parents' social media accounts. Welcome to the wonderful, noisy, and crazy world of Facebook.

xoxo,

Dear, Peanut,

People are asking if we’re back, Yeah, I guess we’re back! Aww, yiz.

We’re back in Manila and it’s almost the same since I have left more than 2 years ago. I have already lowered my expectations to avoid disappointments. I don’t want to be one of those balikbayans who continuously compare their home country and rant about it all the time.

You see, even if our country is not first-world and a lot of improvements in many sectors still need to be done, at the very least, here you can eat your favorite food. Pork is always on the menu and most of the stuff you eat won’t set your ass on fire.

There is a minimal language barrier since you will be speaking in your native language. Our health card will include maternity benefits, which will save us a bunch on your birth and check-ups.

Our family and friends are here eagerly awaiting your arrival. :)

You see son, it’s not so bad.  Life is all about perspective.

Regards,

Dear Peanut,

So tonight is our 2nd night in our new condo in Manila, Philippines. SC is sending requirements for the Wi-Fi installation while I’m writing a blog entry in Word Document.

Yes, no Wi-Fi yet, so this morning, I had to hang out at the condo lobby to connect and send emails. Setting up our new nest in a [technically not new] country takes some time.

A lot has happened in the past few weeks! Both exciting and stressful.

First off, after our Penang-Taiping trip in Malaysia, SC and I started packing our stuff in Malaysia for Philippines. The original plan was to get 90kg worth of baggage through Malaysia Airlines because we don’t want to deal with Air Asia for our coming home trip. But when we booked our flights, we couldn’t but extra 30kg baggage anymore. So, we were fucked.

How do you pack your entire life in Malaysia into 60kg worth of baggage???

And because I'm 4 months pregnant, your father has to carry most of the stuff
we had to bring home. Buti nalang nag-gi-gym siya, hehehe.

Goodbye, Delle! I will miss you and the friendly baristas. "Ai" (the Malaysia barista who became my friend) gave us two iced coffees before we left. So sweet!

The solution was to get storage in Malaysia for half a year. Since SC’s new job requires ASEAN travel, we thought (hope) his new company will send him to KL in the next six months so he can get the things we left there—like his 2 guitars, our ironing board, my collection of Archie Comics and Janet Evanovich books, new desktop printer, and more.

SC discovered this shipping company based in Kotaraya Mall (the Mothership, as we call it—in every country, there’s a mall where Filipinos abroad congregate and where the fucking ensaymada is always dry and 10 times more expensive.

First, we bought the biggest balikbayan box they sell. But after putting your stroller and crib, we quickly ran out of space. And since it was Hari Raya (one of Malaysia’s biggest holidays, like Christmas in PH), offices were closed for two days.

Thank God for Pinoys abroad! Tathy (the girl from Jolly-Bee) opened the office for us and we bought another XXL balikbayan box and packed whatever we could fit in there.

At this point, I’m already an expert in Tetris, so we were able to pack a lot, efficiently. Poor SC had to do 99.9 percent of the heavy lifting and cling wrapping because I’m not allowed to carry heavy items for now (preggy perks, hehe).

The Malay delivery boys picked up the two massive balikbayan boxes from our Malaysia condo at 10:30 AM, an hour before we had to leave for the airport. Thank you, Tathy for coordinating the early pick-up. We are so grateful to this Filipina in Kotaraya. When we go to MY again, we’ll bring her another Starbucks treat (just like we did when she opened the office for us on Hari Raya!).

But that’s not the most stressful part of our departure from Malaysia. We had to deal with 40kg worth of excess baggage at the airport! I’ll tell you all about it in the next entry.

xoxo,
