Dear Peanut,

So today we finally announced the existence of this blog on Facebook. Here's the teaser we posted and the logo I created:

I have a lot of amazing mommy blogger friends and I've worked with some way back in the past. I've always admired how they're able to share their thoughts about baby products I have no idea existed.
Years ago, I told myself that if I'll ever do a "Mommy Blog," I'll do it a little differently. I still want to sound like me. And now, it's here.
Jet and I have been working on "Dear Peanut" since March this year. It's not your typical Mommy/Daddy blog where you can read about reviews and tips on how to become a parent. God knows we don't know yet, hahaha.
It's actually a life-long online letter we started for our little bun in the oven. The blog is rated-18 because it's filled with profanity, booze tales, shisha-ing, sex, and god-knows-what-else we'll write about soon.
We're excited to share the logo with you. We already shared some of the contents to immediate family and friends as beta readers. We'll launch the blog in 3 months! <3

Excited to share it with our family and friends! :)

xoxo,

Update (as of March 29, 2018): Changed my codename from Queen Bitch (QB) to Tiger Mom (TM).

Dear Peanut,

Today, we finally made our official announcement on Facebook that we're expecting you---just as we initially agreed. Here's exactly what we posted:

After more than 6 months, we are finally ready to make our official announcement. :)
We are expecting a baby boy, nicknamed #Peanut for now, because he looks like one in his ultrasound scans. He's also the reason why we moved back to Manila for a few years. We've decided that it will be best for him to be born where he will be surrounded by family and friends. Living abroad has its amazing perks, but the #1 support (our family) we need cannot be found there.
To our immediate family and friends, to whom we shared our big secret months ago, thank you for keeping our secret with us and not posting anything on social media until we are ready. We appreciate all the messages and tips you share with us, special thanks to Mommy friends Karen Fonacier, Ate Anne Espinola, and Rovie Divinagracia Peralta for answering most of my #praning questions, hahaha.
To everyone, I hope you understand why we chose to wait until the start of the 7th month to make our official announcement on Facebook. Social media can be very noisy and we first wanted to bask in the privacy of this very special event in our lives.
Jester Derla and I have been working on a "secret blog project" that we plan to turn into a book since we first found out about our developing baby. We'll share the link soon!
#Peanut is the best post-New Year, pre-Valentine's, post-birthdays, and advanced Christmas gift we can't wait to have in our lives!
*Photo taken when we were 4 months pregnant, after we found out we're having a baby boy. :D

So yeah, you're now part of your parents' social media accounts. Welcome to the wonderful, noisy, and crazy world of Facebook.

xoxo,

Dear Peanut,

Today, we told your Lolo Daddy (LD) and Lola Mommy (LMO) about you. :)

So naturally, they freaked out over the phone. We were supposed to call them last night but LMO was busy the whole day and they usually sleep early (oldies, hehe) so we decided to do it on a weekend.

Actually, when we first found out about you, we immediately thought about how we're going to announce our pregnancy on Facebook. (More on why we decided not to announce online too soon here).

Since we *sort of* enjoyed Suicide Squad and I'm still high on the Harley Quinn-inspired make-up your Auntie Sai did for me, we thought hey, why not create an artsy announcement using the Joker and Harley Quinn?

So SC bought LEGO versions of the two iconic DC characters and here's what we came up with:

Remember, we made you in Malaysia, haha. That's the iconic Petronas Towers, one of the most recognizable buildings in the world. We will bring you there when you're a bit older.

During the video call, we told LD and LMO that we have something to show them. And we showed them this. It took LMO a while to finally read the small text---about 30 seconds. It also took them about an entire minute to calm down from all the screaming and jumping around.

Then they simultaneously looked at the screen and we showed them your first selfie photo at 4 weeks before they fired strings of congratulations and "parental tips" at us.

LMO said she *sort of* felt that we did have big news to share the night before. I guess it's the invisible tie that forever bonds mother and child.

We also shared the news with your Auntie A and Unlce P through our family Facebook chat room and sent them these announcement images. They all said congratulations and with your Uncle P being a medicine student, he has a lot of questions and suggestions about how to take care of myself during the pregnancy. Lots of do's and don't's.

We had to wait a few days before we told your Lola Mama (LMA) about our pregnancy because she's rarely online on Facebook. But we did the same and showed her the same via video chat. Same with LMO, it took her a while to read the small text saying "WE ARE PREGNANT" that we had to spell it out, hahaha.

But just the same, she screamed for about a minute before calming down. Your LMA is a nurse by profession so she also had a lot of tips and do's and don't's for me. LMA shared the news with your Uncle Tin while I chatted up your Auntie AnneDE via Facebook and sent her the photos above.

Soon, we would tell our closest friends one by one about our pregnancy. But for now, it's just immediate family.

xoxo,
